Till next time... we are taking a 3 week break as one of our sister's is coming to South Africa for a visit. We will be back at the end of October.

Paper Shelter DT & 2014 Card Girls Challenge 32 : Multi fold card

I am so excited to enter The Paper Shelter DT challenge. What a fantastic opportunity to work with such talented people and use adorable digi stamps and papers.

http:www.thepapershelter.com/

I am also entering this card into the 2014 Card Girls Challenge 32 - Multi Fold Card

I used a Paper Shelter digi stamp "Autumn Attitude". She is coloured with Copics markers and I used a white gel pen for highlights. I cut the image out on a Nestabilities and distressed the edges with Antique Linen distress ink. The swirls were cut with a die on my Cuttlebug. I added Stickles to them. My paper is from the Bo Bunny paper pack called Vicki B. I sewed the papers on with a zigzag pattern with my sewing machine. I added a tag and it has an eyelet and a few burlap strands knotted through the eyelet. My embellishments are flowers, stickers and a few gems. The metal frame is Gorjuss and I stamped the sentiment inside.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 31 - Jar

I cut the mason jar and butterfly on the Cameo. My papers are from the Prima Delight and Riverbank Revels paper packs.  I distressed and stickled all the edges. I added sticky pearls to the pink paper. The flowers and butterfly are Petaloo. The turquoise flower is Prima.  I added some lace and a strip of pearls at the bottom and 3 gems. More lace bow and pearls on the lid of the jar. The words were stamped on a Nesties tag.

I decided to make an extra card using the same mason jar pattern. I also cut a picket fence on the Cameo and stamped it with a woodgrain stamp and distressed it. I added a strip of yellow burlap ribbon and some buttons with a strand of the burlap. The flowers are a variety attached with a glittered brad in the centre.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 30 - Copycat

I've wanted to make this card for ages. My sister in law made it in a previous challenge. I've done my best to get it as close to the original as possible. I've attached the original and my recreation. This technique I used was new to me. I printed the image on a laser printer. I painted a piece of fabric with white craft paint. While wet I place the picture face down on the painted fabric. Once dry I placed it in water and gently peeled the paper off leaving the image on the painted fabric. I then sewed it onto cardstock and added the flowers and leaves.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 29 - Sketch layout

My stamp is from The Paper Shelter called Vintage Seamstress.  I cut the scalloped circle with a Nestie and distressed and Stickled the edges and added sticky pearls.  I added two strips of lace and sewed the cotton thread and scissors charms on. The brad is from Eyelet Outlet and the flowers are a variety. The burlap ones are Petaloo.   The words are a freebie stamp to which I added a tiny button and thread.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 28 - Gotta Love a Geek

I used a Sherry Baldi stamp "Teacher's Pet".  My background paper is from DCWV Grade School Stack.  The stars are from Express Yourself DIY and the ABC is from Colorifics foam art stickers.  The heart doily in the top corner is punched with an Martha Stewart punch. I used Tumbled Glass distress ink. The ribbons were done with We r memory keepers Sew Ribbon punch.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 27 - Store Front

My inspiration for this card was the ballet dancer kitty in the store window.  My sister's granddaughter just told me last week she wants to be a ballerina so I made this for her birthday. I chose a stamp by Saturated Canary "I Heart You". I coloured her in with Promarkers, distressed the edges and used a corner punch on the top corner. The frame is cut on the Cameo. I added a bunch of grey pearls. The flowers are a variety and are beautiful.  The ribbon and bows are by Papermania.  The Happy Birthday stamp is from Teddy Boo & Co.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 26 - Piano

I've been wanting to make this card for a while.  I cut the card and piano keys on the Cameo. For the inside I attached a napkin to white paper with Serviette Podge. I cut the top of the bird out because it was a bit longer than the card.  I attached a small tag to write on in the inside and distressed the serviette a bit so it wasn't stark white. For the front I stamped music on the paper and distressed with Tea Dye and Old Paper ink. I added pearls and a variety of flowers and some leaves.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 25 - Wreath

This was a real challenge for me, I couldn't think past a Christmas wreath. Once I got going I was able to make two similar cards. For my challenge card I cut a circle in my patterned paper from the Melissa Francis Classic Elegance pack and distressed the edges with a little tool and then ink.  I stamped postage and script on the backing sheet. I used white and turquoise string for the wreath and added a few mini pompoms. The black flower was cut with the Cameo.  The butterfly is metal.  I sprayed the white rose with Pearl Mist and added fabric and Prima roses with some white lace ribbon and leaves.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 24 - You've Got Mail

My papers are from 3 different paper packs: the green background (Basic Grey Kioshi); yellow (Echo Park Victoria Garden); green check (Riverbank Revels). I added a Martha Stewart border punch, a doily and some loose woven fabric behind the stamped image. My stamp is from Cuddly Buddly - Toby Tumble You've Got Mail. I coloured him with Copics and distress inks with a sponge applicator.  I have a post mark stamp which I added to the envelope. I was so pleased to see the Paris partly showed.I added some embellishments to finish it off.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 23 - B is for ...

My B is for Bear in Blue. I used a tear bear I had bought years ago. It came with the ladybug and the blue flowers.  My papers are from two packs...Rose Garden and Authentique Sweetness.  I tore all the pieces on my patterned ruler and distressed the edges with Scattered Straw ink. I stamped a sewing edge with Tea Dye ink. The corner embellishments and pink flower are by Prima. The yellow flowers and the white leaf in the bottom right hand corner had no name in my stash and I added Say it in Crystal pearl flourishes.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 22 - Art Deco

I had such an enjoyable time making my card this week with my sister using all her beautiful craft goodies. The frame was cut from the Art Deco Cricut cartridge. The background paper is from the DCWV Shimmer Stack. The stamp is by PaperMania. Once coloured I added Stickles and Glossy Accents to their shoes. I added feathers and  a brad to her head piece and a gem to her dress. The pearly brads, ribbon and clock charm finish is off together with flowers by Prima.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 21 - Washi Tape

I used a variety of pink and purple washi tape cut as ribbon. I added a strip on top and bordered it with ricrac. I used a Fiskars border punch called Sunburst and added gems.  I made a rosette with the washi tape and added a gem in the centre. The bow was pre-made. The Congratulations stamp was a freebie in a magazine.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 20 - Metal

My card is for a new baby girl. I made the chest of drawers using FabScraps paper from the Shabby Chic paper pad. I distressed all the edges using Aged Mahogony distress ink. I added metal brads for the drawer pulls and attached all the drawers with puffy pads. I made a hanger from a metal paper clip. Isn't it cute? The dress is part of a Tilda stamp. The Giggle is a metal embellishment. The animals are Disney stickers and knitted Boofle. I added a tear bear peeking around the chest of drawers.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 19 - Bubbles

My papers are from two paper packs, the pink and blue backgrounds are from Authentique : Sweetness and the waterlilies are from Riverbank Revels. I added different strips of lace at the top and bottom of the lilies. I put all my papers through the Distrezz-it-all machine. I added a string of pearls to the top and bottom of the card. I distressed a doily with yellow ink and cut the doily up in pieces so I could use it in different areas on the card.
My stamp is Tilda the mermaid. I cut her out with a Fiskars circle punch and lightly coloured the edges with a Copic marker, it's so light I'm not sure if you can see it, I used the same colour as the water. I added a few pearls and a gem to her hair and a string of teardrop pearls. I cut out the seahorses and added them with puffy pads. The flowers are from different Prima packs : French Can-ection and Caribbean Collections Barbada. I made the green and white bow and then stuck a button on with the glue gun.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 18 - Bunch of Flowers

My papers are  Basic Grey and Gorjuss. The distressed look of the papers was not intentional but my paper trimmer is blunt and I quite like the effect. I coloured in a Wee Stamp, added Stickles to the heart on her pants and the bee's wings.  I added Glossy Accents to the flowers, and the trim on her outfit and Liquid Pearls for the dots. I used small beads for the centres of the sunflowers.  I used Reflections lace and some sparkly ribbon which I fed through eyelets. I used part of a LOTV word stamp and stuck it onto a tag colouring it lightly with Tea Dye distress ink. The flowers are a variety of different makes and I added a button flower.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 17 - Strawberries

I used two digi stamps I found on Pinterest, Precious Moments Strawberry Queen and the bunch of strawberries. The stamps were printed on different paper so the colouring looks a bit like when you colour on watercolour paper.  I used Stickles on her wings and crown and Glossy Accents on her shoes and the strawberries. I used a Nesties for the image and distressed the edges with Tumbled Glass distress ink. I handcut the red border and distressed the edges a bit. My papers are from my stash. I used a lacy Martha Stewart border punch. The felt red flower and ribbon combo was part of some packaging on a gift. Some flowers and brads and ladybirds finish it off.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 16 - Hat

I used a Kenny K stamp and coloured it with Copics and then added lots of glossy accents. All motorbikes have to be shiny. I used a piece of embossed paper as well as the two silver frames.  I wanted to add some chain but couldn't find any so I did some beading with brass beads and the words are from a sticky alphabet which I cut up and stuck onto a tag. I attached the tag with a "photo movable thingy" :)  with matching brad.
I stickled the outsides of my papers with black stickles and added a big glittered brad and some Say it with Crystals.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 15 - All Creatures Great and Small

I used a Wee stamp called Angelica. She is coloured with Copics. I added Stickles to the snow and her wings and halo. I added a few accents with my white gel pen. My paper is from 3 packs, the background  is Fizzy Moon Little Ones, the purple with white polka dots is from DCWV Nana's Kids and the navy with white dots is from Fizzy Moon Festive Fun. I stickled the edges of the patterned paper blocks. I cut the stamped image out with a Nesties. It was the biggest one in the set so I traced the edge onto the navy dotted paper and cut that by hand. I attached it with puffy pads and also added some eyelets with satin ribbon.

Embellishments are sticky pearls, say it with pearls swirls and Prima mini roses which I've stickled. The white corner is made using a Fiskars border punch which I cut into a corner shape, added and eyelet and some ribbon.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 14 - Bicycle

I cut the window and flower box on my Silhouette Cameo and then distressed them and added some gold Stickles. I used a Martha Stewart heart border punch for the blind and added a piece of patterned paper for the curtains.  The siding on the house is strips of paper which I distressed.  The shutters are Prima Shabby Chic and the bicycle is by Sarah J. I cut the grass with a Martha Stewart punch and added some glossy accents as dew drops and FlowerSoft. The flowers are various ones from my stash as well as the tag which I stamped with a Inkandinkado stamp. I added some beaded lace to the top.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 13 - Newsprint

I love the softness and colour scheme of this card and it was fun making a card without a stamp. This card was for a dear friend of mine who is fighting cancer and recently moved to a retirement village to be near her family.

I used a variety of papers for this card from Bo Bunny, Fabscraps and Dovecraft. I tore and distressed a few strips of paper on my patterned ruler. I improvised by using a cog for my clock. I added some Prima clock hands and stickled them. I stamped a few swirls and stickled them. My flowers are a variety, mainly Prima. I bought the ribbon recently at my local craft shop. I attached the tag with a strand of hessian and a sticky gem in each corner.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 12 - Prehistoric

I found the cutest stamp for this challenge by Sherry Baldi. The patterned paper was a loose sheet in my stash.  I taped lace behind the stamp. I used liquid pearls to imitate embossed dots around the stamped image. The words are a Kaisercraft stamp. The card is embellished with some flowers and Say it with Crystals. I loved this stamp so much I decided to make an extra card in a different colour scheme.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 11 - Playing with Dolls

My papers are from the Prima Annalee pack.  I cut the one layer with a Nestie and added sticky gems around the edge. I distressed all the edges with Tea Dye ink. I added some vintage lace and a bow to the other layer. The horizontal layer has a Martha Stewart border punch and some Stickles and two heart gems. I found the stamped image on Pinterest and cut it with a patterned scissors and the pink border is a Nestie. I used a white gel pen to highlight some areas after colouring and some Stickles. The flowers are Prima and Petaloo. The Birthday Wishes title is from my stash.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 10 - Mystery Basket: Buttons, Bows, Lace, Tag

I used paper from a Prima paper pack and Rose Garden.  My papers are distressed with my new favourite machine, the Zutter Diztress it all and then inked with Tea Dye and Old Paper distress inks. I found a piece of lace in my stash and added a strip of trim that I bought at a craft shop while I was visiting my sister last week.  I glued some buttons with string bows. My tag is a Prima stamped with Rose ink and I used a tissue to add a bit of  Tea Dye distress ink with a touch of stickles. I added a beady gem and the words are a Magnolia stamp. The heart is stamped and stickled. I added some gold gems to the corners of the card. The bow was made with 2 ribbons under the flower.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 9 - Basket Weave

My paper is from the Simple Stories Baby Steps paper pack. I wove the paper into a basket and added some Stickles.  I used ribbon for the basket handle. I made a card for my daughter's boyfriend  who is turning 18 and getting a car for his birthday. Lucky boy.

I used two sizes of brads and coloured the one in green to match the papers.  The word stamp is Lili of the Valley attached with puffy pads onto a scalloped punched circle. The main stamp is also Lili of the Valley,  cut out on a Nesties and coloured with Copics and Glossy Accents. I used a green Copic marker around the edge of the Nestie shape.

I embellished with "Say it with Crystals" and some ribbon with a crystal ribbon slider. The ribbon tied in a bow keeps the card closed.

2014 Card Girls Challenge 5 - Butterfly

For the background I used glossy paper and tried my hand at alcohol inks. I blended a few colours together. The frame is cut on the Silhouette and the butterfly is a Nesties die. I sprayed them both with Perfect Pearl Mist and then added some stickles to the butterfly and a few sticky pearls randomly. The small purple flowers were a gift from my sister in law in England and the rose was in my stash. I added a bit of stickles to the flowers.

2013 Family Challenge 41 - One Word

The postcard paper is from Prima Everyday Vintage.  The top tag is from Prima Delight together with the bird button. The stamp is a Prima doll. I stamped her and coloured her body and hair with Copics.  I then stamped her again on patterned papers and cut her clothes out and attached them. I used a music note stamp for the background and distressed the edges in different colours.  I added a small corner border by Martha Stewart. I coloured some chipboard notes and stickled them and added a few gems randomly. My one word is "THANKS".

2013 Family Challenge 40 - Burlap and Lace

I used a new embossing folder for the background called "Wild Holly" by Couture Creations. I used a Fiskars border punch for the dotted paper, distressed the edges and added some Stickles. I added some adhesive lace and 2 gem brads. The "Noel" is a Lili of the Valley stamp. Tilda is coloured with Copics, some Stickles and Liquid Pearls on the star. I cut her out with a Nestabilities scalloped oval and inked and stickled the edges. I cut a piece of red burlap for behind the stamp and lastly embossed a few random dots with Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel. I used Embossing Gloss which is like clear lipgloss dots to stick to the embossing powder before heating.

2013 Family Challenge 39 - Acetate

I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge and made 2 Christmas cards using acetate.

My first card I used a piece of acetate and embossed it using a Chiswick flourish stamp 3 times and Embossing Puffs which are like flocking when dry. I cut out an ornament on my Cricut from the Trim the Tree cartridge and embossed it with UTEE which is lovely like an enamel finish. The words are a Lili of the Valley stamp and I used a bit of Stickles on it and added a scalloped circle base. I used a Fiskars border punch called Icing on the Cake at the top and bottom of the card. I added a bow to the top of the ornament.

My second card is an easel card. I used a folded piece of acetate and used stickers from 2 Jolee's sticker packs. The paper is from the Fizzy Moon Boys Club paper pack. I added lots of ribbons and gems to all sides of the card. The words are from a Kaiser Craft St. Nicholas stamp pack. I used a corner punch on the top right corner and embossed it with Snowflake embossing powder. I punched out a punch of snowflakes and added a sticky pearl to each cen
tre. This glittered paper does not like things adhering to it so I had to use hot glue to attach the snow flakes, the pearls and the words.

2013 Family Challenge 38 - Pop Up Card

For the front of my card I used a doily that was cut on the Cameo. My embellishments include an Enmarc laser cut chipboard "Tea for 2", flowers are Prima Daisy Dreams Lagoon, the burlap heart is a sticker by Little Yellow Bicycle, the brass circle/heart is from Gorguss Girl and the pearl swirls are Prima say it with Crystals. The yellow flowers are also Prima.

For the inside the pop up is 3 cups cut on my Cameo. I added sticky pearls around the cups and stickled the leafy pattern on the cups. I used  half of another doily and a Martha Stewart border punch. I added another burla
p heart, cupcake stickers from Sarah J, another pearl swirl and the Divine sticker is from K & Company.

2013 Family Challenge 37 - Sweet Treats

I used spotted paper and inked the edges and stickled the dots. I cut it out like an ice cream. I used a Lili of the Valley stamp on the ice cream and an Inkandinkado stamp on the ice cream stick. I punched out flowers and added a rose to the centre. I added a little bow.

2013 Family Challenge 36 - New Technique

I heat embossed a Lili of the Valley sentiment stamp. The bottom half of the card I embossed 5 coloured papers on the Cuttlebug and punched circles out. I sprayed all the circles with Perfect Pearls Mist in 4 colours. I layered the circles, added some ribbon, flowers and a butterfly.
